Plain-language notes on the technology behind company events

Managing queues at the door

Long queues at registration are the first thing guests notice and the last thing organisers plan for. A digital queue tool lets guests join a line from their phone and get a message when it is their turn. It works for registration desks, photo booths, food counters and activity stations.

Pick the queue model first

Some events need a simple first-come line. Others need timed slots, priority lanes for speakers or guests with access needs, or distinct queues for different activities. Choose the model before you choose a product.

Who does what on the day

Staff need clear roles: someone who calls the next guest, someone who handles guests without phones and someone who can change settings if the line stalls. A short briefing before doors open avoids most problems.

Always have a fallback

Phones die and venue signal drops. Keep a printed list and a manual process ready, and test the tool in the actual venue beforehand.
